La serie está protagonizada por el conocido actor Charlie Sheen. Una comedia donde tres
hombres de dos generaciones distintas intentan madurar y aprender lo que significa ser un hombre. Un
aprendizaje basado y condimentado con historias de hombres y mujeres, de amor, sexo, citas, divorcios y
… madres. Charlie Parker (Charlie Sheen) es un codiciado soltero con una preciosa casa en la playa, un
cochazo en el garaje, y un don especial para conquistar a las mujeres. Sin embargo, su existencia de
ensueño se va a ver algo turbada con la llegada de su hermano Alan (Jon Cryer) y el hijo de éste, Jake
(August T. Jones). Alan se acaba de divorciar y está profundamente deprimido, por lo que se muda a casa
de su hermano. Ambos hermanos son como la noche y el día, pero a pesar de sus encontronazos hay una sola
cosa en la que están de acuerdo: Jake. Ambos hermanos se ponen de acuerdo para crear un hogar estable
para el niño en casa de Charlie. De este modo, juntos estos “dos hombres y medio”, inician un camino en
el que deben afrontar los retos que supone ir madurando poco a poco. Sin embargo, la historia no termina
aquí, ni mucho menos: para complicar aún más las cosas, encontramos a un montón de excéntricos personajes,
como la egocéntrica y controladora madre de Charlie y Alan, Evelyn (Holland Taylor); la ex mujer de Alan,
Judith (Marin Hinkle), que no acaba de encontrar su identidad; Rose (Melanie Lynskey), una mujer muy
atractiva, poco convencional y posiblemente un poco loca, vecina de Charlie, con quien ha tenido una
breve aventura y que está decidida a quedarse en su vida de la forma que sea necesaria; y Berta
(Conchata Ferrell), la dominante ama de llaves de Charlie.
